I’m so glad that a deal was reached concerning this “Budget Battle”

Just look at all the good things that came out of it…

I’m so glad that a deal was reached concerning this “Budget Battle”

Just look at all the good things that came out of it…

We got a Balanced Budget Amendment to The Constitution…

Well, not quite. What happened was that somebody mentioned it in passing while discussing another topic on his way to the watercooler

Our National credit rating was saved…

No, not so much. See, Moody’s and Standard and Poors wanted $4 Trillion in cuts in order to keep our current AAA rating, while the representatives (both House and Senate) only gave $3 Trillion in “cuts” which weren’t cuts, but, we’ll discuss that later

The size of our Federal Government shrank…

Nope. Wrong again. We’ll now have yet ANOTHER committee called a “Super Congress” to make decisions that the regular congress can’t seem to pull themselves together to make.

Don’t worry, when it turns out that THEY can’t get the job done either, they’ll create the “Super Duper Congress” consisting of only TWO people, and when THAT fails, they’ll create the post of “Dictator”, which I’m sure we’ll all be quite happy with cuz it’s so much easier than actually voting on things, or having to make any kinds of decisions for yourself or anything

We finally managed to cut government spending…

Right. Like THAT was ever gonna happen. You need to remember that there’s a difference between “gov-speak” and the English language

“Spending cuts” in “gov-speak” actually means “Less of an increase than we originally planned on”

At least taxes didn’t go up…

LOL ! Wrong again !

Remember the whole “gov-speak” thing ? Well, in gov-speak, revenue=taxes. In this new deal, revenue will be increased by repealing the “Bush Tax Cuts”. For those of you not yet paying attention, repealing a tax cut is the same as raising taxes

At least that new law of posting the legislation for 72 hours prior to the vote worked out well

Yea, right. THEY didn’t know what the hell they were voting on, why the hell should WE ?

This was a GREAT deal !

Yea, um… no. This was We The People getting screwed again by BOTH republicans and democrats

Maybe next time you’ll pay attention

Class dismissed

Yes, our congressmen once again voted on a bill that they did not read. Congressman Owens (D- 23) tweeted today that he was looking forward to reading the bill. This is like high school. Let me explain…….in high school, students openly talk about doing drugs, drinking, their sexuality and who they are having sex with. Was high school like that for you? Not me. Today is different. Anything goes and everyone talks. Congress…………the same thing. They don’t read bills they already voted for and they yell it to the internet gods for all their constituents to read and there is no fallout. Why? When your constituents ask you questions, you just ignore them. It’s easy. So, yes, Spyder. We are so much farther ahead of where we were just 10 years ago. Ahead of what?

Moody was planning on downgrading our rating anyway.
    I’m disappointed in this bill.
It has hidden ‘taxes’ in it (as you say gov speak) and gives the incompetent in the white house a pass until after the 2012 elections.
Like you, I do not like the idea of a super committee. What recourse is there if their actions are contrary to the citizens wishes? I guess the answer may be as you say, a Super Duper committee instead.
I’m tired of all this calling, faxing, emailing, petitions, etc when they seem to have little to no effect.

Who won on the debt deal?
by Brian Bertha on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11:33am

So who won on the debt deal? Well, obviously those in government who get to spend another $2.4 trillion dollars that they indirectly tax you for thru devaluation of the dollar. The US GDP estimated at 15.3 trillion the deficit spending for 2011 1.6 trillion your dollar just devalued by a minimum of 10.5 % just this year. Deficit spending steals your buying power because nothing backs the new money being printed. So if you are a progressives definition of a millionaire ($250,000) you just were taxed an additional $26250.00

Were their any REAL cuts in spending ? NO there were cuts to projected increases. People should understand the average increase in budgets is approximately 7.5% a year. Check out your income does it grow equal to that or better. If not, you are giving up some of your standard of living (wait till inflation really hits).

Who are the losers. Anyone actually working in the private sector producing real goods and services who feels they have not received full value for their services because their individual efforts, for themselves, is diluted by the needs of the collective.

This was a lousy deal and spending could have been stopped if the congress simply did nothing. Is there an outside chance that because of it the AAA rating will be preserved? Yes of course, if the rating companies blink and do not see any advantage to being truthful and honest.

Now I get absolutely no pleasure in this situation as I worked my whole life NOT to have debt. But this unrestricted ponzie scheme will be catastrophic the longer it continues. Pray for your country we may need divine intervention to get out of this mess.

Well said Spyder. Some of us were watching, others thought it was a great opportunity. Carrots on sticks do not work for most of us!

The only thing that I see has come out of this entire waste of ink is that our noise has been heard. No…we (meaning the tea party movement) did not get great ink in this deal…but IF we were not watching and making noise, we would be deeper in the hole than Greece is right now.

Now…back to holding some more feet to the fire…
